Our March 2022 safari to Botswana was nothing short of spectacular!
It was a delayed 2020 adventure - all the sweeter for the long wait - and it was amazing. We travelled to wonderful camps and areas and had incredible wildlife sightings and were lucky to share it with new - and one longstanding - friends. We visited Kwando Safaris camps and were extremely well looked after. Travel was smooth and hassle-free - it really is time to get back out there and enjoy our wild places.
Our first stop was Tau Pan in the Central Kalahari and the landscape is stunning - endless grassy plains and enormous skies. We loved it! It was a perfect time to visit, scenically beautiful with short foot long yellowing grass, and mammals and birds everywhere.
Just some of our photos below - kept large to try and do justice to the vast scene.
A focused lion striding through the plain.
Leopard up an impossibly spindly tree.
Bat-eared Fox - a favourite mammal for us.
Blue Wildebeest.
Gemsbok (Oryx)
The beauty of Tau Pan.
Comical and inquisitive Ground Squirrel
Northern Black Korhaan - a common bird!
Springbok
Lioness
A first for us - and it seems many others - the most beautiful post-mating dance of Burchell's Sandgrouse. A very special sighting that will remain a highlight in all our wildlife viewing over the years.
